What is this program about?

Optus Small-Sided Football (OSSF) provides an enjoyable participation experience for young people, of all abilities, with a major focus on skill development through freedom of expression, minimal coaching and limited emphasis on the scoreboard.

How old can I be to participate?

Players that are 7, 8, 9 or 10 years old on January 1, 2012 are eligible for this program.

 

What are your fees?

The 2012 Fees are $230.00.

 

What do I get for my Fee?

The fee contributes to the following club responsibilities:

  • Match day uniform:
    • Playing shirt (property of club)
    • Playing shorts in club colours (yours to keep)
    • Playing socks in club colours (yours to keep)
  • Use of training equipment (balls, bibs and cones)
  • Council fees for ground and clubroom leases
  • Running costs for floodlights when training
  • End of season yearbook and trophy

Is there a discount for a second child?

Yes, we offer a sibling rate provided that the eldest child is paying the full rate. For 2012 Additional Sibling rate is $210.00.

 

When does the season start?

Expected Season Start Date is mid April, 2012.

 

What day and time are the matches played?

There are multiple teams in OSSF U8-U11 and both Saturday and Sunday programs are offered subject to demand. The kickoff times are yet to be determined but would be in the mornings.

 

Where are the Home matches played?

Matches can be played at:

1.                     Larpent Reserve, Hammence Street, Glen Waverley (Melway 62-D12)

2.                     Glen Waverley North Reserve, Madeline Street, Glen Waverley (Melway 62-B11)

3.                     Wheelers Hill Secondary College, Lum Road, Wheelers Hill (Melway 71-F10)

 

How about Away games?

All of our matches are scheduled against teams in the South East Melbourne metropolitan area.

 

When is training?

Training days are usually flexible and depend on the individual coach for the team. Most teams would train once a week.

 

What do I need to bring every week?

It’s compulsory for each player to have their own football boots, shin guards and drink bottle.

Can my parents help in the program?

We are always appreciative and encourage all our parents to assist where possible. Please consult with our OSSF Program Director to register your interest in assisting.

 

We are always looking for parents to assist our committee too in the running of our club. Please let us know if you wish to help out in that area also.
