Well guys it has been a great season for the team and it was great to finish it off with a hard fought win. The day started off badly with a few last minute withdrawals and we started with 11 men (including Christian) It was a pity Peter had to leave and we hope his daughter is ok but the team showed a lot of spirit and determination to win today.

We travelled to Noble Park for our last game today and unfortunately we didn't have a ref. again but the boys tried hard. A few opportunities were missed in the first half and we were 1- 0 down at half time.

It has been a long time since we lost a game (25/5) but today the boys should be proud of their effort. Casey Comets are the top team and beat us 7-2 in round 5 (our last loss!) and today we took it to them. Kenny managed to find the net in the first half and unluckily that was our only score but the boys kept trying. The heavy rain didn't dampen the boys spirits as they desperately tried to get that equalizer. Avish did well in goal again and kept us in the game, both sides had some near misses and it was anybodies game. Great effort from the rest of the team Alex, Tim, Victor, Anh, Josh, Kevin,Pasindu, Jake, Blayne, Neil, Rhys, and Christian. I chose this photo of Victor as a great example of his onfield directions (and it looks like he's patting Alex on the head). Great effort guys, keep it up.

Well to see 10 goals in one game is unusual but today the boys really went that extra mile and managed to win, after being down 2-1 at half time! Last time Doncaster beat us 3-0 so it was a great turn around. With a beautiful goal from Vassil, 2 great goals from Ronolan and 2 (or 3 goals as he claims) from Christian. Some great goalkeping from Daniel as usual and some great all round work from Jordan, Rhys, Karl, Cam, Andrew and defending by Chris, Michael & Ricky. The whole team kept trying to the last minute and with 1 of their goals being blatant offside we were fired up. When we managed to get to 4 all we were hoping for the whistle and then to score another 2 goals in the last 5 minutes was amazing. Well done everyone.

What can I say? We lost 6-0 to Caulfield in the 3rd round and today we turned it around completely. The game was very close all day and could have been anybodies, we parents on the sidelines were biting our nails as each team took shot after shot. Kenny popped in the first goal and the boys were ecstatic to be up, unfortunately Caulfield managed an equalizer before half time.

The under 10’ Stallions “Green”, have got off to a great start this season. After a few weeks practice and open day matches the ‘Stallions’ were enthusiastic and eager for their first match which was played at home against the ‘Richmond” Tigers. It was great to see the side blending as a team and putting on a great show and score nine goals to nil. The hard work at practice and patience had paid off and this was the best encouragement that was needed for a fruitful season.

For our last game of the season we were at home against Boronia. For our starting line-up we had a bit of a change round today. Dinith had wanted a go at goalkeeper so we had Dinith in goal for the first half, then for the second half Agilan who also wanted a go before the end of the season. Both played really well and made some good saves and kicks out. Defending during the match was done by Frank, Thanusan, Katarina and Conor. Midfield was well looked after by Andrew, Richard, Reuben & Kevin with Nicholas and Hamish up front. Unfortunately the Badgers were giving Boronia too much space and Boronia made some quick breaks and were soon in the lead by 3 goals. In the 2nd half our midfield players were doing lots of running and trying to get the ball up into the other half to give us some goal scoring chances. It wasn’t to be though as Boronia fired home 3 more goals. In the dying seconds of the game suddenly from inside our half Hamish made a break through and went full steam ahead up the field, none of the Boronia defenders could catch him and with only the goalkeeper to beat Hamish planned his move well and slotted the ball home past the left side of their goalkeeper.

We had an early start against Ashburton with a 9am kick-off. The team seemed keen and we even had 2 subs so we could put on fresh legs as we went along. As with quite a few of our recent games we had some good attacks moving the ball well but were unlucky not to finish off by putting the ball in the back of the net. When Ashburton were on the attack we had some good clearances by Emerson, Conor, Thanusan and Frank. Agilan, Andrew & Reuben worked tirelessly in midfield. Unfortunately Frank had a rather sore ankle so he had to sit out, but Richard played well in defence on the wing. Katarina was unable to go in goals due to a sore hand but played well on the field. Nicholas was goalkeeper today and had to work really hard against Ashburton’s attacks. Hamish, Kevin and Dinith were trying really hard up front but Ashburton weren’t giving us much space and when they did we just couldn’t finish off.

A lovely sunny morning was in store for the Badgers home game against Croydon. Unfortunately it took the team a while to warm up to the game and were trailing 3 goals after only 12 minutes of the first half. Suddenly there was a spark of life and the Badgers pressed forward. Agilan made contact with the ball and fired home to bring us within 2 goals at half-time. With a quick encouragement and liquid refreshment the team went back out for the second half.
